UM
CAFÉ COM O MIÉCIO
『A Caffé with Miécio』
Documentary
Short movie - Fiction
Duration: 15min Color
Year: 2004
Director: Carlos Adriano
Synopsis: Miécio Caffé (Bahia 1920 - São Paulo 2003),
caricaturist and music collector, who portrayed Brazilian
scene - music, sports, politics - from the 50s to the 90s
and gathered the largest collection of Brazilian music records.
Caetano Veloso has recorded specially for this film an unknown
"marchinha" (traditional genre of Brazil’s carnival music
from 40s) intitled "The People’s Voice".
" This film is a rigorous yet poetic and atmospheric portrait
of Caffé, a beloved Brazilian caricaturist and music collector.
Caffé’s caricatures from the 1950s to the 1990s are brought
to vibrant life by the camera and the film’s spellbinding
soundtrack. " (MoMA, The Museum of Modern Art New York, program
note)
" This short film is a vigorous, affectionate, and inventive
piece on portraitist and cartoonist Caffé, featuring an original
composition by lionized singer/songwriter Caetano Veloso.
